Florence, Italy. An anthroposophical perspective on the cultural era.
Florence is considered the cradle of the Renaissance—an artistic and cultural epoch that continues to inspire people even to this day. Through the influence of the powerful Medici family, the Italian city became one of the most flourishing metropolises in Europe. Michelangelo, for example, worked in the Medici church, and Galileo Galilei was court mathematician in the family’s palaces. Leonardo da Vinci also spent much of his youth in Florence. From June 30 to July 4, 2026, a five-day workshop will take place at the Waldorf School in Florence, in which participants will explore Renaissance art from an anthroposophical perspective. Through guided museum visits, painting, working with clay, and exercises in the contemplation of artworks, participants will explore the Renaissance not as a historical era of the past but as a living expression of human evolution with contemporary relevance. The workshop will be held in Italian with English translation and is open to all.
