Athens, Greece. In March 2026, a conference on anthroposophic medicine took place in the Greek capital. It was organized by the Institute for Anthroposophic Medicine in Greece. A report.
The conference, titled “A New Understanding of Child Development and Health,” brought together physicians, therapists, educators, parents, and other interested individuals who wanted to gain a deeper understanding of health and human development from an anthroposophic perspective. The presence of Karin Michael and Marion Debus, leaders of the Medical Section at the Goetheanum, gave the event a crucial impetus. Their presentations broadened perspectives on the specific characteristics of child development, health, and the anthroposophic understanding of the human being. Their contribution also helped create a meaningful connection between the work developing in Greece and the broader international community of anthroposophic medicine.
For many participants, the conference was their first substantial encounter with anthroposophic medicine. The response afterwards has been remarkably positive, and the level of interest shown by doctors, educators, and parents indicates that there is fertile ground for this work in Greece. In this sense, a field for anthroposophic medicine seems to be emerging in Southern Europe, with Greece being one of the places where this process is currently taking place. The Greek Institute of Anthroposophic Medicine continues to promote the development of anthroposophic medicine in the country, including through educational initiatives, conferences, and collaboration with international colleagues and institutions.
Currently, in cooperation with the Medical Section at the Goetheanum, the Institute is exploring the possibility of organizing a second conference in Greece in 2027. Long-term plans include establishing an annual conference and further expanding educational work in the region.
