Paris, France. Understanding Steiner’s economic ideas.
Under the title “The Metamorphosis of Capitalism,” a conference on Rudolf Steiner’s vision of an economic system based on the common good will take place from June 13 to 15, 2025, at the Anthroposophical Society of France. Steiner’s ideas on an economy that incorporates social and spiritual aspects will be placed in the context of today’s global prevalence of capitalism and neoliberalism. The conference and associated seminars will be led by the British economic and monetary historian Christopher Houghton Budd. Budd’s work focuses in particular on the understanding of unequal wealth distribution. He has worked intensively on both the legacy of Karl Marx and the economic legacy of Rudolf Steiner. He is the author of several books, including Prelude in Economics, a response to Marx’s Communist Manifesto, as well as Finance at the Threshold and Beyond Gold, two works that brought Steiner into the mainstream of economic research.
