Bern, Switzerland. The Alma Humana! Conference: Theater workshop with Gaia Termopoli.
What pioneering ideas for the renewal of theatre emerged from the 1924 Course in Speech and Drama led by Rudolf Steiner and Marie Steiner-von Sivers? Gaia Termopoli—actress, theatre educator, and doctoral researcher in Theatre Studies at the University of Bern—focuses her research on Marie Steiner-von Sivers as a pioneering figure in theatre direction. She brings her experience to Alma Humana to lead an exploration of the spiritual and artistic foundations of the stage. Her workshop will offer a theoretical and practical introduction to their impulse for a new art of theatre. During Alma Humana, participants will explore key elements of the course through hands-on theatrical work with speech, stage presence, and contemplative practices for actors based on anthroposophy, while also deepening their understanding of the historical context, both past and present. Gaia Termopoli is one of the people sharing their knowledge at Alma Humana! The multilingual conference will take place at the Goetheanum from July 23 to 27, 2025.
