“Nothing is good unless you do it.” This is probably the most quoted sentence by Erich Kästner. Kästner is a children’s author, and no wonder, because it takes a child’s heart to formulate such simple Pentecostal ethics. The call to get involved is followed by the question of how the deed fits into the whole. Only then will we know whether it will be “good.” Like the solo voice in the orchestra, the brushstroke on the canvas, or the one word in the poem: there is always a tension between the one and the all, the self and the community. In this issue, we take a look at the different personalities and the tensions between them that drove the development of the Goetheanum Weekly. And we offer our gratitude for their good work, now over 100 years ago.
