Dornach, Switzerland. 2025 is the 100th anniversary of Rudolf Steiner’s death. How does he live on in individual people? Gosha Valerian Gorgoshidze, Head of Drama at Bühnenkunst Amwort (Stagecraft at the Word), gives his answers.
Which sentence by Rudolf Steiner has particularly touched you and why?
“It is said that love makes us blind to the failings of the loved one. But this can be expressed the other way round, namely, that it is just for the good qualities that love opens the eyes. Many pass by these good qualities without noticing them.”1 Love begins with an interest in the other person and in the world. When I take an interest in something or someone, I see something new. My soul leaves its comfort zone, expands, and I grow. It’s about not giving your own judgments the power to obscure the good.
How do you recognize in your environment that you are interested in Rudolf Steiner?
I try to live my life and my profession from within myself, and to treat other people with respect. I work on myself, and anthroposophy forms the basis for this.
Where did anthroposophy irritate you?
The challenge of anthroposophy is to arrive at one’s own experiences and insights. For me, the examination of Rudolf Steiner’s works is essential for this.
For which questions in life is anthroposophy particularly important to you?
“I, you, we”—this is how I could summarize the circle of questions about life and work. And this leads to “It” in the sense of a spiritual unity.
What thoughts would you like to add to anthroposophy?
All thoughts that arise from people’s inner experience of anthroposophy.
What spiritual tool would you like to add to anthroposophy?
The same tools that Steiner gave us, but individualized.
If anthroposophy were a mythical creature—what would it look like?
I can’t imagine it as an animal. Most likely as the Sistine Madonna.
