With the Cherry Blossoms

Yokohama, Japan. A new eurythmy therapy training in Japan.

A new eurythmy therapy training course was launched in Yokohama on March 22, 2025. It found its home in the community center of the Shintō shrine, where peace and nature reign. At the opening of the training, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. The first training block lasted four weeks. Seven students participated, with guest students joining them on weekends or on a weekly basis. Kimiko Ishikawa, Emi Yoshida, Harumi Adachi, and Yuriko Yamamoto led this training, which was recognized by the Medical Section at the Goetheanum.

The students learned the metamorphosis of the vowels, the basics of eurythmy and eurythmy therapy, as well as the practical exercises from the first three lectures of the eurythmy therapy course. They also delved deeper into cosmic aspects of eurythmy: planetary movements, zodiacal gestures, planetary seals, staff exercises, and the eurythmic movements of colors. Parallel to eurythmy therapy, medical lectures, sculpting, singing, speech formation, and nature perception were taught. From the very beginning, the training content was also accompanied by meditative work and Rudolf Steiner’s Six Basic Exercises. The students participated openly and actively in the lessons and deepened the content independently in order to summarize the newly learned elements of eurythmy and anthroposophy and to expand them through their own life experiences. In a creative and positive atmosphere, they learned day by day, creating something new and generating an energy that gave learning and social events a special sparkle. Emi Yoshida
