If you want to take a step, you need a firm footing. You need a counterforce: a foundation that supports you. This foundation and Rudolf Steiner’s contribution to it are the theme of this year’s annual conference of the Medical Section. Therapists and doctors abbreviate the somewhat unwieldy title of Steiner’s last book to Fundamentals. Like his early book Theosophy, his late work is, once again, a great anthroposophical narrative about what makes us human. A core idea shines through: the forces that give us life are the forces that give us thinking. Life is thinking! What a challenge: exert your thinking and come alive—come alive in order to learn to think more clearly, more courageously, and more deeply.
