We grew up within the protective embrace of another being until we were mature enough to take possession of our own bodies. Mother Earth has carried us since the beginning of time and continues to bestow her gifts upon us, even when we fail to thank her. Maternal qualities can be found in the angel; anthroposophy itself can be understood as a body in which the ‘I’ is embodied. This second issue in our series on embodiment is dedicated to the “maternal space,” as one author puts it—to give attention to something that holds and embraces the future.
