Tunis, Tunisia/Rosenheim, Germany. An encounter between students and refugees.
In 2022, a group of students from the Freie Waldorfschule Rosenheim traveled to Tunisia to meet young refugees from sub-Saharan Africa. The refugees’ goal: to make it across the Mediterranean to Europe. Accompanied by music therapist and teacher Sibylle Stier and community dance choreographer Josef Eider, a ten-day encounter took place between young people from diverse backgrounds, which included artistic processes, shared experiences, tensions, understanding, and personal growth. Back in Germany, the students processed the experience in the play Niemandsland (No Man’s Land). The project was documented on film by former Waldorf student and documentary filmmaker Manuel Linke. The film Vom Bleiben und Gehen (On Staying and Leaving) has been available online on DVD since March 2025 and is also being shown in selected cinemas.
