Istanbul, Turkey. Friends of Waldorf Education in Turkey are honoring Rudolf Steiner’s legacy on the 100th anniversary of his death with the art exhibition “Steiner100.”
As the distinction between truth and illusion widens daily in our time, the value of the wisdom Steiner bestowed upon humanity is becoming ever more apparent. I follow with interest the commemorative efforts being made around the world. I am also delighted to be a part of this commemoration with our exhibition dedicated to Steiner.
We had chosen the central theme of our exhibition as paintings inspired by Steiner’s words that influenced us. We endeavored to create our paintings in light of the impulses he suggested. Our paintings are not created out of a concern for professional perfection, but rather are woven with sacredness and love. They are not created by those who are “painters” by profession, but by educators and teachers who strive to attain the spiritual encounters of art. Viewing them from this perspective will reveal the true meaning of the works.
This exhibition gave us all a renewed sense of togetherness. It was as if we were in a silent dialogue with Steiner. We dedicated the exhibition to Steiner, but Steiner also gave us strength. After preparing the hall for the exhibition, we sat in silence in the room for a while. The room seemed filled with Steiner’s words. It was as if the energy of all the paintings combined to create a completely different, new energy field. It was a unique experience, and we never wanted to leave that room.
I would like to honor all my friends who made this exhibition possible by their names: We organized the exhibition together with Pınar Anıl, Ayşe Tuzlacı, and Başak Topkaya. Beril Ünal, Burcu Gelegen, Duygu Gümüş, Gülsüm Duman, Hande Başaran, Seren Kınay, and Şafak Topkaya are other heroes of our exhibition. Our dear Tarhan Onur, whom we sent off to the stars, was with us throughout. Our dear friends Roberto Pellacini, Nurtaç Perazzo, and Miguel Perazzo also graced our exhibition with their paintings. Our association president, Birgül Taştan Meriç, was also there with us, with her support.
The sale of the works will continue until November. The proceeds will be donated to the Goetheanum, which is the heart of our community and has never wavered in its support.
