For a Whole Year

At the Michaelmas conference, ‹The Dignity of Birth and Death›, there were lectures, but also reports from people who deal with the threshold moments of birth and death in real life.

Thus Amanda Meskauskas from the Casa Angela birth centre in the favelas of Monte Azul, São Paulo, described how they have been recognised as a public birth centre since 2015 so that impoverished women giving birth do not have to pay anything. These mothers often could not afford the travel for a follow-up examination. With a film she made herself, Amanda Meskauskas gave insights into this hopeful project for obstetric care. Now, the director of the birth centre has reported that two participants of the Michaelmas conference have taken the report as an opportunity to support the initiative with a donation to cover a year’s budget.
