Together We Respond

Mansourieh, Lebanon. Emergency relief campaign in Lebanon.

In 1974, the first kindergarten for children with special needs, based on the principles of Waldorf pedagogy, opened in Mansourieh, Lebanon. Over the years, this kindergarten evolved into the curative educational institution and organization “Step Together.” The center not only offers a wide range of care and training opportunities for children, adolescents, and adults with special needs, the organization is also offering help in the current crisis. In a very short time, the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has forced more than one million Lebanese to flee within the country. “Step Together” reports on the stress and fear this situation is causing for the children and families it works with. In response, it has launched an emergency relief campaign that combines immediate food aid with trauma-informed emergency education and psychosocial support services. This program supports children and their families in coping better with the challenges and uncertainties caused by the crisis.
