Democracy has become a misused and even inflationary term. When considering what is justified in its name, we might ask: What are the appropriate forms for democracy today? What developments lie ahead for it? What makes it human? These questions have been on Werner Küppers’ mind for 25 years as he engaged in direct conversation with people on the street. His experiences and thoughts inspire us to think of the power of the people as the individual’s assumption of responsibility for the whole.
