What Do I Mean by Will?

Will arises from sympathy. Will is, we might say, another aggregate state of sympathy: consolidated or condensed sympathy, which turns into action through consolidation.

Will ‹is› indeed in essence sympathy or – to put it loftily – love of the world. However, not love of the world in order to appropriate the world but for the sake of the world itself. Will is indeed ‹power›, but a very special power, namely a variant of the power of sympathy.
