Driebergen-Rijsenburg, The Netherlands. A professional meeting of conventional medicine and anthroposophy.
Bolk’s Companions is a group of Dutch doctors with different specialties. What unites them is a background in anthroposophic medicine and an interest in holistic research and practice that combines the reductionism of conventional medicine with a holistic view of the human being, pattern recognition, and clinical intuition. The initiative is named after the Dutch anatomy professor Louis Bolk, who used comparative scientific research methods to place his research in an overall context and to gain new insights from the resulting connections. Since 2001, the Bolk’s Companions Group has been publishing its research findings on various medical topics in low-cost brochures. The Dutch Iona Foundation supports this science-based meeting of conventional and anthroposophic medicine, in which holistic treatment options and research methods are made freely available to medical professionals.
