A Common Pace

Dornach, Switzerland. A retrospective film on the Inclusive Social Development conference.

The Goetheanum nestled in early autumn treetops; people looking into each other’s eyes, smiling, talking, moving to the same rhythms—these are images from the film of the Inclusive Social Development conference, which can now be viewed on YouTube. Inclusive means moving together at a common pace, a pace that really suits everyone. Social means meeting each other with interest in order to wake up to the other person and to oneself. Development means taking what is already there and weaving it further with new ideas and impulses. The conference, which took place in Dornach in September 2024, was an organism that embodied precisely these concepts; in the film, these qualities become visible through visual insights, excerpts from speeches, performances, lectures, workshops, and creative spaces. Almost a thousand people took part in the gathering, and their geographical and social backgrounds were more diverse than ever before. Some of them are featured in the film, sharing with viewers what brought them to the conference, what touched them, and what they wish for the future of the newly founded Section for Inclusive Social Development. They speak in German and English, and subtitles are available.
