On Sunny Paths

Cali, Columbia. A place of learning for children and their families in rural Colombia.

The Colombian initiative Camino del Sol [Path of the Sun,] sees itself as an educational village that brings together intentional community, a connection to nature, and Waldorf education. The pedagogues support nearly 50 children between the ages of two and nine on their developmental journey. Special focus is placed on involving their families. The educational center consists of a country house and a 2.5-hectare property. Play and imagination are woven into a rhythmic daily routine shaped by farm tasks and the natural surroundings. Learning at Camino del Sol is lively—the children observe how the land is tended, how the animals are cared for, and how nature is always honored through gestures, rituals, and celebrations. Currently, there is a Waldorf kindergarten, and a primary school will soon be officially opened. The initiative’s team also hopes to purchase the land—which is currently only leased—and establish a biodynamic school farm there.
