Women Lifting Themselves Up

Alfter, Germany. The Institute for Regenerative Economy (“Institut für Regeneratives Wirtschaften”, REGWI) at Alanus University offers training courses for refugee women from Ukraine as part of the EU-funded W-Rise project. An interview with Stephan Hankammer, a professor at the Institute.

What is the W-Rise project about?

Whether in a local organization, family management, or starting a business, in each of our everyday networks, we need the ability to turn ideas into value. Entrepreneurial skills are essential for shaping our lives. As part of the project, REGWI offers Ukrainian refugee women the opportunity to take part in a professional training program free of charge and develop their own skills.

What exactly does the institute’s involvement look like?

As a project partner in Germany, we have the task of drawing attention to the project and the underlying motivations of regenerative management, as well as building up a network of organizations and institutions. As a training institute, it is important to us to pass on this knowledge to those who do not have access to university teaching and whose background makes it more difficult for them to start their own businesses.

What do you want to pass on to the participants in the training courses?

The most important activities include training on digital and sustainable entrepreneurship, analyzing business models, and intercultural cooperation.
