Islands of Self-Knowledge

Dunbar, Scotland. Travel and seminars on Scotland’s islands.

Sacred Isles is a new initiative by Renatus Derbidge, a long-standing member of the Natural Science Section at the Goetheanum. Since 2016, he has been accompanying conferences and study trips in Scotland; he is now bringing this work together under the umbrella of Sacred Isles – Exploring the Mysteries in Stones, Wind and Sky. In terms of content, Sacred Isles combines three focal points: questions of self-knowledge and personal transformation, training perception in nature with a Goethean approach to sacred places and power landscapes, and the experience of small groups that create a protected space for development and community building. Destinations include the islands of Iona, Mull, and Orkney. At their core, the offerings are travel formats in Scotland; However, the work on the Western mysteries there has also given rise to lectures and courses in other locations—for example, 2026 smaller events in Germany on the Irish-Scottish in Hesse, the megaliths in the Osnabrück region, southern Germany, and the Lake Constance area.
