Espen Tharaldsen was born in 1947 and is an architect and head of the Arbeidsgruppen HUS in Bergen. He has designed a number of buildings, including Waldorf schools and kindergartens, that have attracted attention far beyond Norway's borders. In 2005, he was invited by the board of the General Anthroposophical Society to draw up proposals for redesigning public parts of the Goetheanum. He has taught at architecture schools in Norway, Germany, and the USA.
