Many of them grow up in densely artificial areas where litter-strewn streets, rather than green spaces and parks, dominate the cityscape. But watching plants grow or observing animals are among the experiences that allow children to discover, explore, and learn to understand how things are interconnected. Plus, a conscious relationship to nature is essential for taking responsibility for the planet when they grow into adults. At the Sekem Nature Workshop, children are given the space to cultivate this relationship. There, they can work with their hands in the soil and get to know plants, animals, and their environment. They can express their creativity by upcycling trash into new crafts. Through visits to the Sekem farms, they learn where food comes from and what sustainable agriculture is. They also learn how to protect and purify water.
