According to the BFDI, so-called &#8220;bottom-up&#8221; initiatives\u2014whose structures are rooted in participatory social processes\u2014play a particularly important role in the development of biodynamic communities at a local level. Among these initiatives is the concept of \u201cCommunity-Supported Agriculture\u201d (CSA). Members of a regional CSA pay a fixed contribution in exchange for a share of the harvest. Through regular volunteer sessions, they can also assist the farmers in their work, thereby building personal relationships with the farmers, other members, and the land that is being cultivated. This year, the BFDI aims to raise awareness of the CSA model throughout Latin America and to foster the development of existing initiatives.
