Bennett (1897\u20131974) recounts how his spiritual search began after an intense near-death experience at the end of the First World War.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter being seriously wounded, Bennet spent time recovering in England, where he was able to take part in a course in Turkish offered by the War Office.
